Multimeter prob in 70 pin small pcb how to remove???
Love your videos. They have really helped me in my soldering projects.
Awesome! Is there a way to avoid using 2 soldering irons at a time?
Love learning this stuff
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , very much appreciated 👍
Skills!👏👏👏👏
Hi , thank you . Hopefully the video can help a few people out . Thanks again , take care 👍
Wow! Very educational video. Thanks for this vid.👍😎
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , your support of my channel is very much appreciated 👍
I was wondering why you dont use a desolder pump? From my experience its easier to remove the old solder than using solder wick wich does'nt get everywhere.
Hi , thank you for your comment . Electronic solder pumps are good , manual solder pumps I will never use as I just don't like them . Solder braid lightly coated in flux is a different class in my opinion . I know lots of people who feel the same way about manual solder pumps but at the end of the day as I always say use what you are happy with . Thanks again , take care 👍
What is the size of the biggest tip you used, for cleaning the holes out? I think they're called chisle or bevel tips? Also, do you have a link to the soldering iron you're using please?
I can't seem to find any 0.25mm leaded solder. The one I have is 1mm by Silverline which works fine for other stuff, but is too large for tiny pads like this.
Hi , thank you for your comment . I don't know where you are living but if you are in the UK try BLT Circuits , speak to Greg he will be able to help you .If in Europe try Farnell or RS Components or if in America try Mouser or Digikey although some companies now are a bit funny about selling leaded solder to the public . Hope you get on ok , thanks again 👍
Thanks for the vids; lifesavers to beginners like me. SMFL200D is discontinued (according to Rapid Online website) Have you found a replacement you can recommend? Also, where do you get the white mesh cleaner you use to remove flux? I use Flux Off aerosol with a brush but all that does is spread a thin film of flux all over the board. Not ideal.
Hi, what’s the thickness of the copper wire?
dude thank you!!
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , your support is very much appreciated 👍
what should be the lead size for soldering smd components and which type of flux should we use
I am thinking an adjustable dual tip for a single iron might be cool, too. You can still do this but have a free hand!
Stumbled on to this channel some time ago. As a beginner getting into the hobby, your tutorials have helped me a lot. Thanks for the info.
Hi , thank you for your support of my channel , much appreciated . I'm glad the videos have helped you with your soldering , that's great to hear . Thanks again , take care 👍
Your thoughts and experience (if any) with using ultrasonic cleaner?
whatever vision system/digital microscope you have is phenomenal.
Thank you for uploading this information.
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , very much appreciated 👍
does ultrasolve remove water soluble fluxs?
Hi , thank you for your comment . Yes ULTRASOLVE would be effective on water soluble fluxes . I've used it on all kinds and always get great results . Thanks again , take care 👍
11:48 Would it be OK to use solder mask + UV cure on the board before putting the glue if the lower layer was exposed or just to make it better? Also, what was the glue you used please? These might be silly or odd questions because I am a newbie to this! Thank you for sharing this, I really enjoy your videos! Cheers!
Hi , thank you for your comment . Yes definitely you could protect an inner layer with solder mask . As for the flux it's called Tak Pak 382 . Its very expensive if brought as a twin pack , but if you buy the activator and glue separately you can save quite a lot of money . Shop around , EBay , Amazon etc . Hope that helps , thanks again 👍
In South Africa we don’t use flux instead we use tip cleaners
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , much appreciated 👍
You're a master at fine soldering and electric repair, those trace repairs look amazing.
Its an art
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , your support is very much appreciated 👍
great vids q what decides the use of unleaded solder vs leaded?
OMG! Genius!

@@mrsolderfix3996 Hi, thanks for replying, I am wondering if you have a fix for heat transfer (lack of) when the pad is on the ground plane? Is there a trick out there? Oh, and keeping the tip REALLY clean at the end? I have been trying all day to solder 0402 size and I use 2 irons 0.2 and 1.6 tips. I have found that I struggle to use the 0.2 tip (even at 450 deg) and keep it clean. I have the 1.6 set to 380 deg and I am starting to use the bigger tip on smaller areas which may not be such a good idea. Do you have any advice please? I have gone through most of your videos and they are great.
Amazing. They say that a professional is someone who makes the difficult look easy. Nuff said.
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , really appreciated 👍
Awesome video! Im trying to repair trace pads for a usbc that broke. I am having an issue where the solder does not stick to the copper. I am using flux. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Just saved 230 bucks for a new control module on my john deere thanks to this video! Hats off to you sir!
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , much appreciated . It's great that you fixed your problem , if we can all help each other out then everybody benefits . Thanks again , take care 👍
whish i watched this prior to attempting a rollback on a A01-COL SCEI :(
what tweezers you using ?none. of mine open that wide
Hi , thank you for your comment . I have recently posted a video on my channel totally dedicated to Tweezers. The pair you are asking about are mentioned within this video . Maybe it will help you . Thanks again , take care 👍
Thanks Bloke. Im About to start a repair of a Kenwood THF7 Amateur handhed radio. I screwed it up first time trying to change a blown SMD fuse. Dropped a blob of solder on the board and removed around 10 tiny 0402 parts while removing the blob. This time Im getting better prepared. Fine gun tip ,FLUX!!!! tiny tweezers , Solder wick etc. Taking my time and doing it in stages. Found the schematic etc so now know what parts I removed . I really like this little radio and your vids have given me confidence to be able to repair it.
Hi , thank you for your support of my channel , very much appreciated . Good luck with all of your soldering projects , I know you will achieve your goals , thanks again 👍
WOW!This is the best and cleanest repair I have ever seen Great Job!Liked and subbed.

u are da best mr solderfix!!!
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , very much appreciated 👍
Is there any lead free solder that mimics behaviour and melting temperature(183"C) of Sn 63% Pb 37%?
😮
How do you deal with thick boards? The iron you've said you use in the past is 50watts. Also, what flux do you use now that electrolube is no longer manufactured? I am asking because your technique is pretty flawless. You rarely get bridges. I have had 200watt irons not even able to melt the through holes on some boards. I usually use hot air to assist, but it is an exhausting technique. I feel like I need three hands.
Hi , thank you for your comment . If I'm working on boards that are saying 3mm thick instead of the standard 1.6mm I have a number of ways I try . I hold the board upright in a THIRD hand jig I hold a soldering iron tip ( hotter one than normal ) on one side of the hole with a solder sucker ( heated electronic one if I have access to one )on the other . This works every time as heat is being put in from both sides . If you don't have a heated one and only a normal sucker I will pre heat the area using my hot air gun then use 1 iron and a manual solder sucker or solder braid . This will often work . If the solder only part wicks out I then turn over and wick from the other side . I usually have success with this but may need a few goes of reloading with fresh folder etc before sucking out the blockage . Lastly I have heated up joints and pushed small probes or cocktail sticks through ( something the solder won't adhere to ) this has worked for me as well . A hotplate can help as well to preheat your board with roughly 140 degrees Celsius then use traditional dewicking methods , but I appreciate not everyone has access to these. Sometimes it is challenging but there's always a way . Hope that helps .
Vaseline also works really well if you don't have flux
Could you make a video on how to desolder a mini pci-e slot from laptops etc, because i am stuck with 2 boards where i have to transfer one to the other and i don't have access to parts or replacements,i can desolder with a soldering iron and hot air so you can choose.
Hi there. This has been a very helpful video. Have managed to use the tehniques in this to replace some motor driver and LED drive IC's. I just want to know what flux you are using as the ones that I have don't hold the chips as well as the one that you are using.
I hardly ever subscribed to any channel, not sure why though but, sub'ing to your channel was a very easy and quick decision. Keep up the good work, sir! Are you by any chance the same gentleman who runs the "Learn Electronics Repair" channel?
Hi , thank you for your support of my channel , very much appreciated . No I am not the person who does the Other channel you mention , sorry . Thanks again , take care 👍
Can you do a video on tip maintenance and tinning? And maybe heating/reflow plates
Beautiful repair! Yes, there could be other ways to repair this by preserving more of the original lifted pad, but I think the end result here will be just as good. This will last just as long as the original factory traces/pads, and it’s probably even stronger than the original because of the extra glue fillets to mechanically bond the holder to the pcb surface.
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , very much appreciated 👍
Suddenly stable

Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , very much appreciated 👍
How do you remove flux trapped under SMD devices.
Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting . I've posted a cleaning video on my channel , there is a method shown in this video with what you are asking , a bathing method which completely washes out flux from underneath devices . All the flux I've ever used is non corrosive flux so small amounts that are left on the boards do no damage at all anyway but I do still like my boards sparkling clean. Hope that helps 👍
What kind g of glue you use for the pad?
Hi ... thank you for the video One question: Is it important to cover the end of the wires by isolator material for safety?
Brilliant! Liked & Subscribed.
